Icarus (a.k.a. Spaceboy)’s Garage built Jetpack
He was a happy man. Really. He was. Until his house vanished. Something came down from the sky and destroyed his house. A huge crater was the sad remnant of his home. Icarus was convinced a UFO had crashed, no one could convince him otherwise.
He quit his job and with his last money he built a rocket jetpack in his friend’s garage. To explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go … no, wait: to get the alien bastards who had demolished his home.
Icarus (a.k.a. Spaceboy)’s Garage built Jetpack is an allegoric and contemporary tale about how we – the people – need to stop being passive and need to take back power from the ignorant politicians and downright bullies that govern us.
This is an interactive piece, with lights and movies. Icarus has a mobile phone in his suitcase. This phone will act as a timecapsule / message in a bottle. You are invited to send a text message with a message to the world, the universe or your loved ones to +31 6 12 69 93 70. These messages will be sent to actual space around the year 2020.
One screen shows memories of his childhood, the other is his first person viewscreen. Links to the actual movies are below this page.
